About the Ministries of College United Methodist Church
|
We're rethinking "CHURCH"!
What if "church" was a verb, not a noun? What if it was about really doing what Christ did - serving others?
What if "church" was reaching out to others in need and others who don't know Christ. Would you be interested?
If "church" to you is a place you go on Sunday and that's it, we'd like to have you rethink it, too!
Being a volunteer or a volunteer leader in a ministry is about finding how God has shaped you for
his purposes and then answering His call. At College Church, serving is a big part of our Vision
and we ask all our groups to be involved in serving in our community. Serving in a ministry of
the church is also important for us to, well, be "the Church".
At College Church, volunteering is not about "filling a slot", filling your life with more to do,
or putting you in a spot and leaving you there forever! We want you to serve, but to serve in an
area which fits. So, we invite you to try out a ministry and see how it works.
God has a plan for you - come find it!

Is being part of a ministry which invites people to Christ and builds up the church, something you
would like to try? Here is a list of some ways you can serve in a church service ministry:
Hospitality Team:
Greeters & Ushers: Extending hospitality to our guests in worship
Fellowship Time Team: Preparing and serving light breakfast items for guests after worship
Children's Ministry:
Kid's Power Hour Team: Volunteers to staff the weekly time of music, fun, and teaching with
children. You don't have to do it every week, it's a team!
Nursery Helper: Helping out with childcare on a periodic basis
Vacation Bible School Helper: Helping with children or conducting VBS in the summer

Worship Ministries
|
Liturgist: Helping with reading scripture and prayer time during worship
Adult Choir: If you love music and singing, this is the place for you. Our Adult Choir
practices weekly and does anthems for our Traditional Service. It's kind of like a music family!
Media and Sound Team: If you like the technical end of things, this might be your place. This
team helps with the sound and video parts of worship in both services.
Praise Team: Are you a musician? Our Praise Band, Revelation, leads our Contemporary Service and
sometimes has openings for talented musicians. Let us know!
Lay Worship Speaker: Is preparing and presenting faith based messages your thing? Talk to our
Pastor about training for and being a lay speaker in worship.
Pianist/Organist: Are you musically talented on keyboards?
Youth Ministry:
Do you have a heart for working with middle school and high schoolers? Be a Youth Ministry helper.

Church Service Ministries

Green Team: How about working with plants and helping the church facilities look great!
Office Team: Are you into detail and like doing office type tasks? Try out being an Office Helper.
Building Maintenance: Are you a "hands-on" person? Like to fix things or paint? We can hook you up!
