I'm New
|
Great, we're glad you decided to stop by! Finding a "fit" in a church and getting connected can
be a little challenging. We want you to know that we really want to help you connect here when
you are ready. So, here are some next steps to help, but you don't have to go it alone.
|
- Read About College UMC to find out more. Especially pay attention to the Vision and
Mission. We want to be a church of "open hearts, open minds, and open doors" where you can experience
God's grace and love and make friends. Perhaps "church" has not been a good experience for you or perhaps
it hasn't been in your past at all. That's fine here! We are a church of imperfect people seeking
to be disciples of Christ and it is a lifelong journey. You are welcome!
- Come and Worship! We hope you will experience a feeling of welcome and know that God's
presence is here for you each week. Worship is a key part of the week in seeking God and finding
peace to meet the world.
O.K. Been there, done that, now what??
- Get Acquainted Visits: Meet with the Director of Connectional Ministry or Pastor for a
"get acquainted visit". In fact, it is quite possible you will be invited to do this. After
you have tried out coming to worship, this will help get to know you. This is a no-pressure,
open ended way for you to ask questions, too.
- Starting Point: Once or twice per year we offer a 10 session class called Starting Point.
Starting Point is especially for those new to the Bible or to their faith in Christ, those who
have questions about the Bible, or those who have just been away awhile and want to get
reconnected to their faith.
- Explorer Class: This one session class covers the vision and mission, something about our ministries,
and what it means to be a member of College Church. It's also a great time to ask anything you want to
know. Really! This is usually a small group and is conducted by our Pastor and Director of Connectional
Ministry. We offer it periodically, but ask if you are interested.
- SHAPE Class: This class can be taken in a small group or done individually using a DVD on your own schedule.
Shape stands for Spiritual Gifts, Heart, Ability, Personality, and Experience. This class is designed to
help you learn about how you are uniquely shaped for serving God. See our Director of Connectional
Ministry to enroll.
- Last but certainly not least - just jump in! Join a group for an "all church study" which we have about
twice per year. Get in with a group doing a serving project in our community. Try out a small group
listed on the
Connect Page. Volunteer for serving in a ministry that interests you.
Just Do It!
Your formula for getting connected is "Worship + 2". Attend worship on a regular basis, then: Find 1 way
to grow in your faith outside of worship + 1 way to serve others.
Don't set on the sidelines, get connected, we can help!
